Dance Therapy in New York
Any
human being has at some time experienced depression.
If it is not too serious a problem, we can save ourselves
in the course of our daily lives. But if the depression
is not something we can conquer by ourselves, we have
to seek a specialist's assistance. In the United States,
Dance Therapy is often used to deal with these mental
states. The therapy which uses dance has already spread
around the world; however, it is not too familiar to
the general public. This is the second time we have
featured this therapy; last year we visited a session
with a group of intellectually disabled people. This
time we introduce you to another group session with
people who suffer from various psychiatric illnesses.
This time, again, Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn,
New York, gave us an opportunity to observe a session
and interview Nancy Koprak, MA, ADTR, along with Tricia
Capello, MA, ADTR, NCC, who spoke to us last year.
