International Artists and Visas

The visa is one of the most troublesome issues for international artists. Indeed, without a work visa, many artists are forced to face a severe reality. They may be restrained in their activities as artists, required to study something other than their interests, or even compelled to go back to their native countries. In this article, I have tried to grasp the present conditions of international artists and describe their visa issues through interviewing several artists (both those with work visas and those who have tried to obtain work visas, given up, and returned to their own countries) and consulting an immigration lawyer who specializes in helping artists. Although the situations of international artists attempting to get work visas vary, there seem to be some characteristics in common regarding their purposes and problems.
